Brazilian zouk is a partner dance originating from Brazil. Also known as zouk-lambada, the dance is a descendant of lambada, the music & dance style that swept over the world like a storm in the late 1980's. Brazilian zouk is characterized by the dancers' undulating bodies and the girls' flowing hair. Malaika currently teaches with Zouk Conexao based out of Academy Ballroom in Miami Circle, Atlanta!
In addition to her BFA in Dance, Malaika minored in dance composition at SUNY Purchase Conservatory. Choreography has always been a passion of hers and she is on a mission to build the arts/ dance scene in Atlanta, making dance and collaborative arts more approachable to people of all social backgrounds and ethnicities. Her work is a direct expression of the human experience and a reflection of the times!
